If you are a [fairly] consistent reader of this blog and live within 40 miles of Akron and you don't come to Art in the Square on Saturday, Aug. 19, I will punish ALL of my blog readers by posting nothing but pictures of my cats for a month straight. That's right.
What the hell is Art in the Square? Well, I live in Highland Square—which contains no titular square, btw. And this is our third annual art festival, in which we feature mainly artists who live in Highland Square. (Other communities, they have to ship in their artists. We, we have them all here.) This year, there will be over 50 artists of various media, along with musical acts like Goodmorning Valentine, the Rachel Roberts Family Band, Goodbye Ohio and the House Popes. Oh, and bellydancing. Yes.
We're closing down W. Market Street, from Portage Path to Casterton, because this MUCH FUN needs plenty of SPACE. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 19, but there's a kick off event on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. Join us at the Highland Theater for a showing of "The Grizzled Wizard of Waste-not, Want-not"--a documentary about Akron "junk artist" PR Miller.
If you have any questions, let me know.
